This will be a short post about a whole house water filter I installed

Winning Bid from BidRl

Months ago I won an aquasana filter on bidrl. I ended up getting it for about $400. But I had no idea what it was. I just knew it was an aquasana water filter and it came in 3 parts. To my joy and surprise it was an Aquasana Whole House Rhino filter! Here’s a Home Depot link to what I got, minus the Descaler. And here’s a picture:

Mentally Challenging plumbing

For some crazy reason I could not figure out a nice way to by pass the filter under the house. I went through multiple drawings of how I needed to do it and what I needed to purchase. I had to go down from 1 ¼” pipe to ¾” pipe and switch from pvc to pex.  Here is my 3rd and final drawing

Isn’t it super simple to understand? It almost looks inappropriate 😊 For those who aren’t artists. Here is what it looks like under the house in reality

Fun Flushing

Before installing the aquasana filter system they give instructions on flushing the filters before installing. I had the two little ones come out and help me. It’s fun to watch. Here are the videos.

Long time coming

I had all kinds of projects going on, so this sat around the house for months. Even after the install, I didn’t use enough glue and couldn’t find my favorite pvc glue, so some of it leaked. I had to go and get more pex fittings. I now love shark bites. I’ll pay the premium for the lack of headaches.

But it’s done! We now have filtered water, and more importantly there is aren’t hard water spots or the smell of sulfur coming from our water anymore. Hallelujah! Also, glad it wasn’t a costly fix.

Here’s the final product.
